In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued Decree No. 6 of 2013 forming the board of Dubai Women Establishment (DWE).
Wife of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his effort to empower woman as an equal partner in the community. Sheikha Manal stated that Sheikh Mohammed's support motivates Emirati woman to excel both locally and internationally.
Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed wished the DWE's new board all the success during its term towards greater role and impact for the establishment on both local and regional levels.
Pursuant to the decree, the new board is formed of Mona Al Marri as Chairperson and Managing Director and Hala Youssef Badri as Vice Chairperson. Members of the Board are Huda Issa Buhumaid, Khawla Rashid Al Mehairi, Hana Abdul Wahed Al Rostamani, Huda Saeed Naeem Al Hashimi, Lamis Mohamed Hamdan Al Shamsi, Muna Busamra, Lubna Qassim Bastaki. The term of the new board is three years and renewable.
This decree is considered valid from the date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
The DWE was established in 2006 following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The establishment of DWE encourages and facilitates the participation of Emirati women in the workforce and society.
The DWE's mandate includes extensive research to identify and quantify status of women in the workforce of Dubai, as well as initiatives towards women's further development opportunities. Awareness and policies that are conducive to women in the workforce are also recommended by the establishment to enable women to play greater roles within the UAE and on global scale.
