The Federal National Council (FNC) approved on Tuesday a federal draft law on Anti-dumping and Countervailing Preventive Measures after amending some clauses and articles during its fifth meeting of the FNC second ordinary session of 16th legislative Chapter in Abu Dhabi, presided by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC.
The council stressed the measures would tackle harmful practices in international trade from non-GCC countries. The employees of the Ministry of Economy, assigned to be law enforcement officers by the minister, should prove violations of the law, and the resolutions related to it.
The FNC stressed on the importance of this law for setting standards of fair competition between local and foreign products, and combating harmful practices in international trade such as flooding the domestic markets with products, and the increase of imports which threaten the domestic industry.
The FNC members addressed eight questions to government representatives related to health, housing, economy and human resources sectors, aiming at improving these services in various sectors.
Dr. Al Qubaisi said at the beginning of the session that many sectors are interested in the session's agenda which reflects the keenness of the council members to cover all issues that concern the society.
The session was attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, Chairman of Sheikh Zayed Programme for Housing and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Land & Maritime Transport, and Noura bint Mohammad Al Kaabi, Minister of State for FNC Affairs. .
