Sudan's education minister, Soad Abdul Razek
Sudan's education minister, Soad Abdul Razek, has commended the role played by donors in developing the education sector in Sudan.
In a cabinet meeting with donors
, she said the ministry sought to move from the current model of supporting emergencies to support for development.
Razek also stated the meeting aimed at allowing a final legislation to support education for the next five years and achieving the UN's Millennium Development Gaols (MDG) by cooperating with the relevant ministries.
The minister stressed on the importance of collaboration between the education ministry and volunteer organisations in a meeting with UNICEF state representative Hamid El-Bashir.
Razek emphasised the importance of having joint programmes and upgrading projects which drove educational development forward in addition to opening channels of communication for further cooperation in the field.
A national educatio conference had recently concluded in Khartoum. It studied the reality and future of education in Sudan and set a strategy to accommodate the needs of education within the next five years.
