Minister of Education and Higher Education, Elias Bou Saab, met on Friday with US ambassador in Lebanon, David Hale, and discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.
The two officials also spoke about the importance of education during this difficult stage and the need to attach to the role of education in the shadow of chaos in the region.
Bou Saab and Hale addressed the internal political crisis and its threat on Lebanon in light of regional wars.
Separately, the Minister chaired the first meeting of the Higher Education Council which he had announced the formation of according to the new law on the organization of the private higher education sector.
Council members included the president of the Lebanese University, Adnan Sayyed Hussein, Director General of Higher Education, Ahmad al-Jammal and a number of teachers.
Bou Saab assured that "the new law has granted us an effective way for the partnership between the Ministry and the institutions of higher education to help them achieve their goals."
The participants reviewed the implementation of internal regulations.
