Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez (L) and US director Oliver Stone
US filmmaker Oliver Stone will mark the anniversary of the death of his friend Hugo Chavez on Wednesday with the premiere of his new documentary about the late Venezuelan leader.
The 50-minute documentary, titled
"Mi Amigo Hugo" ("My Friend Hugo"), will debut on Venezuela's government-funded Telesur news network, according to the SIBCI communications agency.
The movie includes interviews with family members, friends, intellectuals and politicians close to Chavez, who died after a battle with cancer on March 5, 2013.
The documentary's premiere will coincide with a day of commemorations that will include a military parade and civic events led by Chavez's handpicked successor, Nicolas Maduro, who has faced a wave of protests in the past months.
