Tunisian Deputy Prime Minister Reza Saidi
A new television channel will be launched in Tunisia specialising in government news, an official said.
Tunisian Deputy Prime Minister Reza Saidi said the channel will be called “Al Qasba Live”.
“This channel will be broadcast by the
government. It is very similar to the European Parliament channel, EuroparlTV,” he said.
The channel will broadcast round the clock news and updates and will promote freedom of speech, the official added.
This move comes after Troika’s constant tensions with the media industry in the country.
The government accused Tunisian local media of criticising the Tunisian elections and the industry’s refusal to cover Troika’s honouring of Tunisian Paralympics athletes.
