The Sharjah Media Corporation, SMC, has unveiled an exclusive package of programmes and drama series to be telecast on its various radio and TV channels during Ramadan 2015, which is expected to begin around June 17th.
The Ramadan programme grid was announced during a press conference held by the SMC at its main headquarters in Sharjah, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, SMC Chairman, Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, SMC Director General, and Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director of Sharjah Radio and Television at SMC.
The Ramadan schedule includes 46 programmes that will be shown on Sharjah TV, Sharjah channel 2, Sharqiya TV from Kalba and Sharjah Radio.
The programmes cover various topics spanning religious, social, cultural and entertaining drama shows that adhere to the spirit of the Holy Mont, and the SMC strategy to provide high quality and meaningful media content focusing on Sharjah's cultural status and the UAE's values and traditions.
Keeping a special focus on enhancing public awareness about the significance of Ramadan, SMC will also promote the UAE community’s values, traditions and customs through its selection of shows.
“The selection was made by highly experienced professionals from different channels who made great efforts in choosing the programmes that meet the public interest and adhere to community culture and traditions,” said Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation.
He stressed that the Ramadan programme schedule for this year is aimed at educating and entertaining families through a variety of high quality and responsible programmes as per the principle of SMC.
"Our carefully designed and selected programmes aim to highlight and promote Arab and Islamic values in order to raise the profile of Sharjah globally, in keeping with its reputation as the Islamic cultural capital," the SMC Chairman continued.
Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation, said, "Collaborative efforts were made by all professionals and officials in charge of SMC's TV channels to meet the different tastes, and live up to the concerns, of the citizens and residents of various nationalities and backgrounds. This year we have an assortment of programmes spanning literary, cultural, intellectual, art, social, financial, tourism and entertainment genres appropriate for all our viewers during the holy month without forgetting the Arabic dramas that our audience loves."
He added that there will also be a focus on the UAE's national heritage and local folklore, and the programmes and drama shows will be telecast live or replayed during the morning and evening hours.
Among the drama series, famed Syrian drama ‘Bab Al Hara’ will return this year for its seventh season, while Gulf drama ‘Hala Manayer’ will be broadcast on Sharjah TV.
A slew of religious and spiritual programmes and contests are also lined up for Ramadan.
