Egyptian media personality Doria Sharaf al-Din
Cairo – Akram Ali
Egyptian media personality Doria Sharaf al-Din has stated her pride in the possibility of becoming the first female candidate from state radio and television
to hold the post of information minister.
Al-Din expressed her delight after being tipped to become the first woman from Maspero to head the country's information ministry.
"We will pass through this phase," Sharaf al-Din said on Sunday. "Taking charge of a ministry is not easy. The timing is also hard. Everyone expects a lot from this government," she added.
Egypt's interim Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi will make the final announcement regarding the cabinet mid-week.
Sharaf al-Din has filled several posts at Maspero, Egypt's state broadcasting house, including chief of artistic works, deputy information minister and head of the satellite channels sector.
She has also written several books about Egyptian media, including Policy and Cinema of the 1950s and Policy and Cinema in Egypt.
