MP: If you’re a Muslim, you’re not welcome to travel
Christchurch – Arabstoday
A media storm is surrounding a New Zealand politician who published an allegedly Islamophobic editorial in the country’s Investigate magazine.
Richard Prosser, a member of parliament in the Pacific
country, wrote the article in the February-March 2013 issue after he had a pocket-knife confiscated by airport security before boarding a flight in Christchurch.
The article, titled “Enemies at the Gates,” claimed multiculturalism in democracies represented “pandering to an upstart minority,” adding that it was an “undeniable statistical fact” that young Muslim males posted the greatest threat to Western aviation security.
"If you are a young male, aged between, say, about 19 and about 35, and you're a Muslim, or you look like a Muslim, or you come from a Muslim country, then you are not welcome
to travel on any of the West's airlines,” Prosser wrote.
