Following directives from Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a media delegation composed of local and Arab journalists, will leave on Wednesday for Italy to visit the UAE pavilion inaugurated earlier this May in Expo Milano 2015.
The trip aims to enlighten local and Arab media about UAE's efforts to host the world largest exhibition in 2020.
The media delegation is composed of heads of local media organisations that includes UAE Journalists Association, Dubai Media Incorporated and Arab Media Group in addition to chief editors and journalists from Al Bayan, Emarat Al Youm, Al Khaleej, Al Ittihad, Al Roeya, Al Watan, Gulf News, The National, Khaleej Times and Emirates 24/7. The delegation also includes representatives from number of Arab media outlets including Asharq Al Awsat, Al Arabiya TV channel, Sky News Arabia, english.alarabiya.net and elaph.com Mona Al Marri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, visit organizer, asserted that "the trip reflects the leadership's commitment to media as a strategic partner in the nation's developmental journey." Furthermore, Al Marri added that the visit aims to attract media attention to UAE's participation in Expo Milano 2015, which is the last world exhibition before Dubai Expo 2020.
Al Marri clarified that the visit is an ideal opportunity for local and Arab media leaders to learn about the expo's details, be acquainted on the concept and spirit of the world expo and attract public attention to the role of UAE pavilion in Expo Milano 2015 in promoting for Dubai Expo 2020.
She said, "The visit is a perfect chance to explore the international event in its first session after UAE won the bid to organise Expo 2020. We want our local and Arab media to come face-to-face with the world's largest fair."
Members of the media delegation expressed their sincere gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his generous gesture that reflects his keenness to engage media in recognising UAE's achievements and promote for Dubai Expo 2020. Members of the media delegation affirmed that wining Dubai Expo 2020 is the fruit of the wise leadership vision to sustain UAE's supremacy in various aspects of human development and mirrors the UAE Government's openness and forward thinking that anticipate the future and prepare to magnify the benefits of Dubai Expo 2020.
Held for the first time in MENA region, Dubai Expo 2020 is expected to have many positive economic and developmental impacts on the entire region. The global event is likely to boost the region's economy with 17 billion euro in addition to over 275,000 job opportunities in tourism, aviation, construction, real estate, logistics services, transportation, hospitality and retail. Moreover, Dubai is expecting 25 million visitor during the six-month event.
