Darfur Minister Ibrahim Musa Madibu
Darfur Information and Culture Minister Ibrahim Musa Madibu announced a plan to spread a culture of peace through the media. This new initiative will be put in place in collaboration with official radio and television stations.
In a statement to Arabstoday on Wednesday, Madibu said that the scheme was focusing on “spreading a culture of peace and raising awareness for citizens of the region”. He added that some radio stations were often used to spread propaganda: "these radios, sadly, adopt the stances of the armed movements refusing peace in the region”. He insisted on the major role the media plays in keeping Darfur peaceful.
Madibu added that “the priorities of the regional authority is to focus on the Doha Agreement for Peace in Darfur. We want people to understand the negative effect of war on society.
