Ahead of its official presentation of the new R8 in Geneva, the German manufacturer is touting the car's innovative lighting solution. The model succeeds the limited edition R8 LMX, which premiered in 2014 and was the first production vehicle with laser lighting tech.
LED headlights will be a standard feature on the new R8, and buyers will have the option of adding laser lighting modules for better range in the high-beam mode. As the car reaches 60km/h, the laser lights are activated alongside the LED lights, boosting visibility and thus improving safety. The technology was first seen in the racing world on the Audi R18 e-tron, which won the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The new Audi R8 will be on display to the public from Thursday, March 5 to Sunday, March 15 at the Geneva Motor Show.
