The 'Red Gold Dream' Gold, rubies and performance personify the Red Gold Dream Mercedes-McLaren SLR.Swiss designer Ueli Anliker is selling off his one-of-a-kind Mercedes-McLaren SLR. Affectionately known as the Red Gold Dream, it features an excessive amount of gold and ruby touches complemented by time of sale of an engine packing a serious 1,000hp.Starting with the accessories, you may ask "How much is too much?" How about $5.4 million dollars' worth of 24 karat gold-plated wheels with ruby-encrusted lug nuts and a ruby-covered shift knob. The extravagence doesn't stop there, however, with gold-plating around the headlights and door sills, along with a gold-trimmed interior and steering wheel. The red paint isn't ruby paint however, but it is mixed with 11 pounds of gold dust. That's right, red paint mixed with about $300,000 worth of gold applied to the vehicle in 25 layers. As a side note, it took 30,000 hours to finish the Swiss' custom car and about 35 men to boot.Worried about thievery? Well, unless there is an 'Ocean's Eleven' type heist planned, you should sleep soundly, as there is a GPS tracking system equipped with an engine kill feature in case someone finds their way into your Red Gold Dream. In terms of actual performance, Ueli Anliker will continue his work on this amazing piece of machinery until it is sold. That means that when a purchaser comes along, the engine will already be tuned-up to put out around 1,000hp.Sound too good to be true? Well, for a cool $11 million you can be cruising down the street in your very own expensive and power-packed Mercedes-McLaren SLR machine. Act fast though, as potential buyers in China and the Middle East have already inquired about this truly unique and excessive Red Gold Dream.
