Beetles from all generations head to the sea for Sunshine Tour
The sun is shining and preparations are well underway for the ninth Beetle Sunshine Tour which takes place on August 17. It is the largest gathering of fans of all
‘round’ Volkswagen models (the Beetle, New Beetle and 21st Century Beetle). Special guests: The Lübeck-based “Voice of Germany” duo Nathalie Dorra and Ole “Soul” Feddersen will perform at this open air party.
Nathalie and Ole live in Lübeck and are taking part in the Beetle Sunshine Tour for the first time. The two are members of Udo Lindenberg's “Panik family” and played roles in the successful production “MTV Unplugged. Udo Lindenberg – Live from the Hotel Atlantic”, for which they received a Platinum award. They join the starting line in the new Beetle Cabriolet. With more than 2,000 visitors, the tour is the largest private meeting of lovers of all three generations of Beetle.
The “most beautiful beach Beetle” will also be chosen from among the hundreds of round Volkswagen vehicles hailing from six decades, which are expected to come to the event from across Europe. One of the specialities of the Sunshine Tour is that not only do visitors put on fancy costumes, but the cars do as well. Whether glamour Beetle, rock 'n' roll Beetle, wedding Beetle, beach Beetle, 007 Beetle or Charleston Beetle – anything goes – with the title being awarded to the best idea and best execution.
On a second stage, three special Beetles are making their grand debut together: the new iBeetle, which has its European premiere at the event, will be presented alongside the Beetle Cabrio Exclusive from Volkswagen R GmbH, and the Beetle GSR, one of just 3,500 of this striking limited edition.
The Beetle Sunshine Tour starts from the Volkswagen Centre in Lübeck (beginning on 17 August at noon, 12:00) and heads to Brügmanngarten in Travemünde, where the programme kicks off at 14:00.
