Habitat home accessories
This new season from Habitat is set to celebrate the skill of the craftsman in a collection that is rich in textures and techniques. “The hand of the maker is in evidence throughout,” says Polly Dickens, Creative Director at Habitat. “Pick up any one of our designs
and it illustrates that craftsmanship is central to the range – whether it’s an embroidered cushion cover, a hand-woven basket or a turned wood table.”
This collection would suit a home with personality and attention to detail. Polly has worked with a colour palette based on neutrals with shots of bold primary colours. Tableware and ceramics feature organic, unusual finishes such as matte black platters which are half-dipped in a shiny turquoise blue glaze. Whilst textiles combine pattern and texture: a chunky, hand-knitted pouf in cobalt blue, a hand-woven rug inspired by traditional ikats and quilts and cushions that are block-printed and top-stitched, appliquéd or embroidered. “Layering techniques adds to their appeal; sometimes the effect is very subtle and it’s only when you pick up a cushion that you realise that the design has been both printed and stitched,” explains Polly.
