Seychelles Islands, Indian Ocean
Island hopping among the remote, tropical luxury destinations in the Indian Ocean is poised to become easier with the newly created Vanilla Islands tourist board that will figuratively
and physically connect a chain of seven islands within the region.
For tourists, a unified tourist board in a region that’s far-flung for many travelers will help them explore the Indian Ocean at a one-stop shop and streamline their vacation planning.
On the eve of a UN-organised conference on sustainable island tourism this week, the Vanilla Island Tourism Organisation announced that the Maldives will become the seventh and latest member to join the group.
Other members include the Comoro Islands, Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte and the Seychelles.
It was announced that the new umbrella tourist board has also been admitted as an affiliate member of the UN World Tourism Organization, a major boost for the group.
