The owner of the smallest hotel in the world, in Jordan, Mohammed Al Malahim, aspires to have a huge hotel consists of Volkswagen's cars stacked next to each other in the archaeological town of Shobak, south of the capital Amman. Al Malahim owns currently owns smallest hotel in the world, which is a white car "Volkswagen" for two people, which costs 25 JD per night, including breakfast and dinner and using the side facilities.
Al Malahim said that he was working in the government sector and when he retired in 1990, he thought to increase his monthly income to improve the family situation because the pension is not enough for him and his family. Therefore, he thought to build a tent on the door of Shobak Castle to provide hot and cold drinks for tourists in addition to foods, and to sell traditional jewelry, antiques and heritage clothing.
He added that during his presence in the castle noted that the people of the region have fled the area for education, so he wanted to revive the region through tourism project.
Al Malahim said that he found a deserted and neglected cave, so he exploited it. He took a financial loan from the Ministry of Social Development to prepare the cave for the reception of tourists.
"I placed some benches and tables, and a table for preparing coffee and tea as well as another table for presenting the artifacts and traditional jewelry," he said.
"Shortly, I bought a Volkswagen car from a friend of mine and I thought of exploiting the car to make it as a small hotel", he stated.
