As part of its efforts to provide ongoing medical education, the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology is set to organize today (Friday 10th) a Neuroscience Symposium entitled "Depression and Beyond" at Danat Al Ain Resort in Al Ain city.
The prestigious symposium will bring together a group of renowned neurologists, physiatrists, psychologists and healthcare professionals in the UAE and region.
Furthermore, The first-of-its-kind Neuroscience Symposium will discuss an array of neurobehavioral disorders and their treatments among adults, focusing on mood disorders and their role in physical and mental health, covering all aspects from diagnosis, management, local research data and other co-morbid disorders, such as cardiovascular diseases as well as other neurological disorders.
Speakers will include Dr. Adel Karrani, Consultant Psychiatrist and Deputy CEO of the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology; Dr. Taoufik Alsaadi, Consultant Neurologist, Chairman of Neurology Department and Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Samer Makhoul, Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of Psychiatry Department and Tamer Kanawati, Clinical Psychologist.
The scientifically driven event is geared towards psychiatrists, psychologists, family medicine physicians, general practitioners, internal medicine doctors, neurologists, obstetricians, gynecologists, cardiologists and endocrinologists. The lectures and panel discussions will focus on the diagnostic criteria of the psychiatric and neurological syndromes, in order to effectively manage such disorders.
Morover, ACPN intends to open of its new branch in Al Ain soon. Located in Al Moatared area, ACPN’s fourth branch in the UAE will provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services for children and adult patients with neurological, psychiatric and psychological disorders.
Commenting on the symposium, Dr. Taoufik Alsaadi, Consultant Neurologist, Chairman of Neurology Department and Chief Medical Officer of the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology, said: “The symposium is part of ACPN’s efforts in providing CME to psychiatric and neurological professionals to provide high-quality healthcare services to children and adult patients”.
Alsaadi added that the opening of the new branch in Al Ain follows an in-depth study of the needs of people to advanced psychiatric and neurological services, as they were travelling to other cities to receive such services. He said that the centre will develop psychiatric rehabilitation programs (PRP) customized to suit the individual needs of each patient.
The new branch will provide a full range of psychological assessments and treatments for patients with depression, anxiety and mood disorders and children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders, in addition to neurological services for patients with neurological and mental disorders such as migraine, headache, epilepsy, nerve pain, multiple sclerosis. Psychological services will cover psychotherapeutic interventions, therapeutic services including parent-led therapy and treatments for pressures and marital disputes.
Founded in Abu Dhabi in 2008, the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology has since expanded its facilities to Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain escalating to provide services to over 60,000 patients in 8 years. Since 2009, ACPN has, also, managed to run over 300 training and development programs under two main categories: medical seminars and conferences, corporate courses and workshops.
