Sally Roberts is still fighting for treatment to stop
London – Caroline Kent
Neon Roberts has awoken after an operation to remove a brain tumour that took place against his mother’s wishes. His mother Sally Roberts was at the center of a nationwide hunt earlier this month when she took the seven
year old boy in to hiding in an attempt to avoid further treatment. The High Court judge ruled on Tuesday that the operation should go ahead despite her fears regarding side effects such as mutism.
Sally told The Daily Mail her son was in “amazing spirits.” She said: “His sense of humour is amazing. He just said, ‘mummy’ and started to reach out to me. Last time he found it hard to speak for the first few days. It is such a huge relief he is talking. The doctors also said it might take a while for him to move his head but he lifted his head up. It was incredible to lie there with him and look into his gorgeous eyes. He’s doing really, really well”.
She arrived in court again today to argue against further radiotherapy treatment, which will begin on January 16 if Neon’s doctors are successful in proving that he will die without it. Neon’s father (Mrs Roberts’s estranged husband) has always maintained that he is wholly in favour of conventional cancer treatment for his son.
