Yves Saint Laurent’s Splendid Wood
While the trend seems to be winding down compared to last year, scents traditionally associated with the Middle East still continue to inspire European perfume houses. This season, Yves Saint Laurent is introducing Splendid Wood,
the latest edition to the Oriental Collection, now composed of four fragrances.
According to the luxury brand, the perfumes in the Oriental Collection are not just ordinary fragrances: they are works of "haute parfumerie." Expert perfumers Marie Salamagne and Amandine Marie used only precious and rare ingredients to concoct this latest eau de parfum, a spicy woody fragrance presented in a luxurious gold-hued flacon.
Splendid Wood presents notes of cardamom, incense, and Sambac jasmine petals, paired with essences of several precious Middle Eastern woods. The perfume is also characterized by essences of cypriol and cedar, followed by an oud wood accord.
Yves Saint Laurent previously introduced three scents in the Oriental Collection: Supreme Bouquet is based on white flowers, Noble Leather presents hints of tobacco and leather, and Majestic Rose offers notes of honey, rose and vanilla.
Splendid Wood eau de parfum will be available from March 3 at the price of €190 (around $260) per 80mL flacon.
