Samar Youssef runs successful fashion blog, Une Libanaise à Paris
London – Arabstoday
Une Libanaise à Paris is a life and style blog which tells the story of a young Lebanese woman, Samar Youssef, who moved to Paris to pursue her dreams. The city of lights became her inspiration, after growing up in the Ivory Coast
and spending three college years in Beirut, Lebanon.
In 2009, Samer created her blog, Une Libanaise à Paris.com and quickly became one of the pioneers of the medium in the Lebanese community. Working hard, she publishes daily articles and regular interviews about fashion and style. The blog attracts around 120,000 visitors per month and no less than 10,000 Facebook likes – and that’s not counting her Twitter and Instagram tally. Her work has garnered the attention of high-end luxury brands such as Hermès, who chose Samar’s blog to pre-release several ads for their new campaign, Long Live Sport, along with the famous e-commerce site net-a-porter.com.
Une Libanaise à Paris incorporates fashion into daily life, Samar writes about interior design, art, books and travel as well as exclusive information on the latest style trends and wardrobe essentials.
Pierre Hermé, Chantal Thomas, Farida Kelfa Francois Simon and Elie Saab are just some of the big fashion names Samar has managed to win over with her charm and style. The fashion journalist has even be lucky enough to encounter with the Lebanese/French author Amine Maalouf, who gave her the invaluable tip: “In an interview, it’s not the question that counts, but the response you get.”
Samar’s success continues to grow, as this year the Committee to Save Venice named her Ambassador to France. The journalist has come a long way from her beginnings as an editorial manager and journalist for the television station Direct 8. Today she is a blogger known by her interviewees for her listening skills and insightful questions and by readers for her varied and colourful exploration of topics. Samar also pens a weekly column of the same name in the francophone Lebanese newspaper L’Orient- Le-Jour and runs a show on the French radio station Sud Radio.
Describing her style as classic and unpretentious, the blogger says she doesn’t like the idea of being ‘in disguise’, needing her clothes to fit well and be comfortable. When choosing what to wear, Samar’s advice is follow your instincts and wear what you enjoy rather than following trends.
