Set to launch in March 2015, Ostara is an ode to spring and the beauty of the daffodil.
French perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour has riffed on the classic British flower for his latest scent for Penhaligon's. He's blended up Ostara, a "solar floral" offering a modern twist on the daffodil, the flower that represents the optimism of the English spring, which inspired poet William Wordsworth's famed lines of 1802 (which appear on the packaging):
"Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."
The fragrance opens with citrus top notes, along with some red fruit, juniper, violet and mint. The heart opens up with a daffodil absolute, beeswax, ylang ylang and hyacinth, before a drydown with styrax resin, vanilla musk and white woods.
The eau de toilette will be available in two sizes -- 50ml (€80) and 100ml (€110) -- and will go on sale at all Penhaligon's boutiques and stockists, as well as online, from March next year.
