Hine 250 is available in a limited-edition run of 250 bottles worldwide
Cognac maker to the Queen, Hine, has released a 60-year-old cognac in a crystal decanter signed by the late French designer Andrée Putman that comes
with the price tag of €10,000.
Launched to mark the brand's 250th anniversary, the Hine 250 is available in a limited-edition run of 250 bottles worldwide. After being showcased at Vinexpo last month, the brandy will also be featured in New York and London in September, and Moscow and Hong Kong later in the year.
Set aside for the family reserve in 1953 by Francois and Robert Hine, the 60-year-old eau-de-vie is described as a richly fruity brandy, underlined with spicy notes.
The Baccarat crystal decanter, meanwhile, was designed back in 2005 by the late Putman and is described as a vessel of elegance for its restrained simplicity. Putman designed for champagne house Veuve Clicquot, Louis Vuitton, the flagship Champs-Elysées store for Guerlain and several luxury hotel brands.
Daughter Olivia, meanwhile, continued the project, designing the presentation case which she says can double as a luxury jewelry box for its second life.
The first edition of the decanter will also be presented to the Queen, for whom Hine has been the official cognac supplier since 1962; Hine is also the only cognac house to have a Royal Warrant. Founder Thomas Hine was an Englishman.
Meanwhile, luxury London retailer Harrods has partnered with Scottish distillery The Dalmore to launch a collection of 12 whiskies blended from some of the oldest and most valuable stock of whiskies in the world. The lot costs £987,500 ($15.2 million USD).
