Singer Ahlam in copycat dress
Singer Ahlam wore a counterfeit dress imitation of a dress designed by the French couturier Stéphane Rolland and now the head of communications for the designer issued a statement which said: “It
has just come to my attention that Ahlam has recently worn a counterfeit dress, wrongly attributed to Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture. The dress, look nº 24 from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, is probably best recognised for its red carpet debut at the last Cannes Film Festival where it was donned by the actress Paz Vega for the “Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted” premiere, making international headlines and winning high acclaim.
"It is surprising that certain media attributed this counterfeit dress to Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture without verifying their sources. The association of Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture with a counterfeit dress is a direct violation of intellectual property and copyright laws and is hugely damaging to our image among our dear Middle Eastern clients. We have already implemented legal proceedings against all manufacturers of counterfeit dresses, and are studying with our lawyers other actions in the immediate future against those who facilitate and participate in such copyright infringement and image defamation,” said a statement by the designer.
