Excitement hits the capital as LFW returns
The best and brightest of British fashion awoke this morning to a sunny start on the first day of London Fashion Week. Designers, models, press and celebrities hit the ground running with another round
of 56 catwalk shows and 20 presentations set to take place over five days across the capital. Chairman and CEO of the British Fashion Council (BFC), Natalie Massenet and Caroline Rush officially opened London Fashion Week AW13 alongside Minister for the Creative Industries, Ed Vaizey.
It was down to business as the trio outlined the BFC’s new three year strategy. "We represent the most creative, dynamic, and nimble fashion industry in the world. And thanks to the digital revolution our platform goes beyond the front row here in London to millions of people around the world," Natalie Massenet explained.
One of the capitals of international fashion, London is a highlight on the calenders of creative and stylish folk the world over.
As the Mayor of London Boris Johnson explained to press at a recent fashion gala event he held at the prime ministers home: "London Fashion Week is a dazzling showcase of great British talent. Its significance has been growing over the last few years, with strong attendance by press and buyers from around the world. With Natalie Massenet now at the helm, her eye for fashion and innovative ideas about selling will ensure it goes from strength to strength and inspire future generations to seek out jobs in this vibrant and creative sector. As well as investing in London Fashion Week, I will continue to do all I can to support the industry, which is so important to our city's prosperity."
