Dubai to be the venue for the World Energy Forum 2012
World trade Dubai centre is getting ready to welcome the World Energy Forum 2012 on Monday. Entitled "Green economy for sustainable development" it will be held outside the United Nations headquarter
in New York from October 22-24. The Arab United of Emirates is seeking to be one of the most world prominent leaders in the sustainable energy field.
The chairman of World Energy Forum Dr Harold Hyun-Suk Oh confirmed that the forum will witness the presence of more than twenty states and a big number of international delegations and governments, mentioning that the expected number of attendance will be more than 2,500 participant, in this event which is considered one of the most important world platforms for sustainability.
He said that the forum aims at achieving social justice, addressing world challenges including poverty and lack of electricity services for 1.5 billion of world inhabitants, affecting developmental aspects including education, health, and infrastructure.
The supreme council for energy, with the cooperation of Emirates central bank, will be recording the moments of this event through gold and silver commemorative coins, also through cooperation with the Emirati post they made more than 20 thousand Commemorative stamp celebrating the event. In addition to this, they will be making a fine publishing from "Emirates a history of Nation" which will be distributed for the presidents and senior attendance. This will consist of 140 pages, including chapters about the Emirati history and its achievements especially in energy and sustainability field, and some illustrating pictures for emirates most famous energy projects.
The forum program will extend for three days, discussing the basic issues affecting energy fields, and sustainable development all over the world as energy policies, and its intellectual leadership, including renewable and traditional energy, oil, gas, clean coal, nuclear energy, water, public health, and urban development, also discussing energy security, justice, woman role in sustainable development, the role of technology and innovation in energy field, and energy projects financing.
The first day in the forum will witness the official opening with the attendance of world state presidents, allowing them to deliver speeches and offer their point of views, exchanging experience in energy field and sustainable development, including the official announcement of the "Energy World Day" which will be celebrated every 22 October under the patronage of The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab of Emirates and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then after world states crediting the world forum initiative signing among the first day program, as this initiative will support the international states and decision makers commitment in order to set a road map to energy sustainability system which can benefit to all world inhabitants, and this day will be annually celebrated like the world environmental day.
The forum second day will witness ministers participation in energy and environment field through holding dialogues and discussions including oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear and solar energy, winds, electricity, bio fuels, water, health, and climatic changes, also the second day will witness organizing the first ladies summit under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussien wife of his Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum discussing the most important energy and water issues, and its relation with woman and the woman role in sustainable development field, the summit will be accompanied by a comprehensive program for hosting first world women.
The second day also will include the African energy summit in the presence of African states leaders and energy and environment ministers, discussing most important issues about water problems and energy, and the sustainable energy in the African continent.
The third day will concentrate in holding talks and dialogues including world businessmen leaders, accompanied by sessions discussing several issues like green economy and traditional and renewable sources of energy, water and sustainable energy, infrastructure, energy projects financing, developing skills, innovation, also holding sessions concentrating on the future views on sustainability in order to conclude recommendations benefiting all sides, trying to draw a secured energy road map saving energy and sustainability for all.
