The General Union of food traders in Jordan started meetings for its members to check their preparation for Ramadan, and to support the kingdom stock of foods and merchandises. According to the captain of the goods traders, Khalil al-Hajj Tawfiq in a statement, these meetings which began with commercial centers and wholesale buyers sector to see their preparations of offers and discounts during Ramadan, will discuss the obstacles they face in their business, and will work on solutions for these problems in coordination with concerned official bodies.
He said that the union will hold meeting with rice, sugar, legumes, vegetable oils, nuts, dates, cheese and dairy products, canned foods, meat, chicken and fish suppliers, adding that the union will share food commodity stock’s situation in Ramadan with the head of the government and minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, along with the union’s members observations about the challenges they face in restoring and maintaining food security.
