Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced that it is participating in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2016, which is scheduled to take place from April 25-28 at Dubai World Trade Centre. ATM is the region’s leading travel trade event and Shurooq’s presence will mark the sixth consecutive time that the authority has exhibited at the global forum.
Shurooq will use its participation at ATM 2016 to showcase its current and future projects and the international standard of its tourist and leisure destinations. Participating at the event at Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority’s pavilion, the authority is also planning to hold meetings with travel agents and tourism industry representatives where it will discuss avenues of joint cooperation and showcase investment opportunities in the tourism, travel and holiday sectors in Sharjah.
“The Arabian Travel Market Exhibition is the leading global tourism trade event that focuses on the inbound and outbound tourism industry in the Middle East and Gulf region. It hosts specialists, experts and investors from around the world who meet annually to communicate and review investment opportunities in the sector. We are participating in the exhibition because it is the perfect platform for us to meet and network with companies, travel agents and authorities working in the tourism industry and to promote the many opportunities in Sharjah, whose tourism sector is growing rapidly. We will also be highlighting the unique projects that we operate and which provide strong returns on investment,” said Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, COO of Shurooq.
Al Qaseer added; “Shurooq is the driving force behind the development of the tourism sector in Sharjah and has introduced new initiatives such as eco-tourism, which is a nascent but promising area of the market and one that is full of potential. Projects such as Mleiha Eco-tourism and Archaeological Project, al Badayer and Kalba Eco-tourism Project are the first of a series of initiatives we operate in this niche sector that hold numerous investment opportunities and we look forward to building the foundations of strategic cooperation with partners and investors through our participation in the event. The diverse portfolio of tourism projects that we will be showcasing at ATM 2016 also includes Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Heart of Sharjah, Al Jabal Resort, The Chedi Khorfakkan, Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park, Al Bait Hotel, al Badayer Desert Camp and Al Noor Island.”
The 23rd edition of the Arabian Travel Market Exhibition is expected to attract more than 36,000 visitors and more than 2,800 exhibitors during its four days. As the region’s premier travel event it brings together travel industry stakeholders to meet and discuss business opportunities in different sectors, including tourism destinations, airlines, cruises, hospitality, car rental and medical tourism.
Shurooq is an independent government organisation that facilitates partnerships and connects investors with relevant opportunities. The authority aims to create authentic destinations that are committed to enhancing the quality of life for citizens and residents, as well as foster an environment where businesses thrive and ideas flourish. Established in 2009, Shurooq strives to encourage investment in Sharjah by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from across the region and the world.
