A Jordanian company has signed an agreement with several Palestinian groups in Amman to import sweet potatoes from areas governed by the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Jordan's Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazem Al Nasser signed the agreement with the Palestinian Minister of Agriculture Walid Assaf .
Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture Salah el-Tarwana explained that the deal was signed after the two ministries agreed to facilitate the exchange of agricultural commodities. He added that Jordan imports 80 percent of its sweet potatoes from other countries, and as part of the deal, Palestinians would be given an opportunity to sell their commodities in the Jordanian market.
Palestinian minister Assaf praised the Jordanian authorities for supporting Palestinian farmers in the face of Israeli aggression.
