President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Ahmad Mohamed Ali has disclosed that he is planning to arrange a conference in London later this year to promote
investment opportunities in Arab countries.
Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Egypt's Finance Minister Fayyad Abdel Moneim, Ali explained that a provisional date of September 16 had been set for the event.
The IDB chief stated that he had met businessmen in Tunisia and Egypt to discuss the conference, which would be attended by investors from the G8 nations and delegates from the Arab spring countries.
Egypt's finance minister issued a statement in which he said that Ali had expressed his company's willingness to support the Egyptian government in the face of the current economic challenges. He added that the IDB had pledged to honour its commitment of providing a $6 billion loan to the petroleum authority.
