Emirates Telecommunications Corporation "Etisalat" is proud to announce its recent success at the prestigious Network World Middle East awards in the much coveted "Data Centre project of the Year" category for its flagship Tier III Data Centre which opened in Abu Dhabi.
Currently in its sixth year, the Network World Middle East awards held recently in Dubai gathered professionals and leaders from various influential ICT companies and technology solution providers across the region. The awards organised by CPI Media Group recognise projects and outstanding achievements in the field of networking and information technology in the Middle East.
The twelve nominees in this closely fought category were evaluated on the basis of design excellence, operational efficiency, environmental friendliness and value to customers. The NWME awards judging panel unanimously chose Etisalat for its newest facility in Khalifa City Abu Dhabi that houses an impressive array of new data centre technologies and has been built to the most stringent specifications. "It reflects the new way of thinking about data centres," said Jeevan Thankappan, Group Editor, CPI Media Group Technology Division.
Commenting on the win, Francisco Salcedo, Senior Vice President of Digital Services from Etisalat said, "We are proud to win this prestigious award which reflects our achievements in leading the ICT sector within the country and our contribution towards the shaping of the overall technology landscape of the Middle East. This award reaffirms our leadership in the data center and digital technology space and our readiness to meet the need for secured data services in the UAE. Etisalat Group has built extensive experience in designing, building and operating large scale datacentres and offers the largest choice of facilities in the GCC".
Etisalat Khalifa City data centre has been built to serve the needs of businesses and government looking to host their mission-critical systems in a secure and high available environment. The data centre is designed to provide a high availability environment to safely house and allow secure access to critical IT resources and systems. It also offers a range of advanced IT services ranging from smart hands to complex managed IT & Cloud services making it the preferred choice by customers for production and disaster recovery setups. Housed in the heart of the facility is Etisalat's central monitoring team ensuring the facility, network and cloud are monitored on a 24x7 basis.
"We believe most organisations nowadays see value in having the data centre do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to their colocation, IT & cloud needs, while CIOs increasingly focus their efforts on running their core business and enhancing customer experience. In essence: Let our data centres do it."
