The Moroccan prime minister, Abdelilah Benkirane
The Moroccan prime minister, Abdelilah Benkirane, on Monday met with the Executive Manager of the United States-based Millennium Challenge Corporation, Daniel Johansson.
The meeting saw discussions between the two sides about joint-programmes between them to support traditional handicraft projects, small olive farm owners and traditional fishermen.
After the meeting, Benkirane expressed his optimism for the results of cooperating with the MCC, describing the meeting as "successful".
For his part, Johansson described his corporation's dealings with the Islamist-led Moroccan government as "outstanding", praising the government's contribution to programmes carried out by the MCC in Morocco.
The Moroccan government had signed an agreement with the MCC until September 2013, including programmes to support traditional handcrafts, olive tree cultivation, traditional fishing and job qualifications.
