Michel Sleiman welcomes delegates
Lebanon is currently hosting the twenty-first annual Arab Economic Forum at the Beirut’s Phoenicia Hotel.
The two-day conference has been organised by the Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal
Group in cooperation with the Central Bank of Lebanon, the Association of Banks in Lebanon and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank.
Against a background of ongoing regional turbulence, the forum is focusing on transitions to stability across the Arab world and addressing the challenge of restoring economic growth.
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman delivered the opening speech at the event, which attracts high-level government and business leaders from throughout the Arab world, as well as international stakeholders.
Sleiman underlined the importance of economic cooperation between Arab countries, and assured guests that Lebanese security bodies had been deployed to guarantee public safety and protect visitors throughout the summer holiday season.
Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group CEO Raouf Abou Zaki expressed his gratitude towards the president, and praised the current security situation in Lebanon.
