Oil industry in Algeria tops Arab and African petroleum exporting countries
Algeria is second rated among Arab and African petroleum exporting countries in the world, according to the World Economic Forum's World Energy Structure Index for 2013.
The report, published on Sunday,
looks at the energy systems of 105 countries, judging them on the basis of economy, environment and security. Algeria is ranked 58th on the world level and second on the Arab and African level, after Tunisia.
The World Energy Structure Index rates the strengths and weaknesses of energy systems in order to assist countries in responding to challenges in this period of change and plan potential new investments.
In terms of development and economic growth, Algeria is ranked 64th, and on the level of security it is ranked 30th. As for environmental sustainability, Algeria is ranked 64th in the world.
The report states that many developing countries face difficulties in responding to their basic energy needs.
