Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Co. (Sasref) signed on Tuesday in Jubail Industrial City a major contract with Al-Khonaini International Contracting Co. Ltd. for infrastructure development and building of 217 housing units for Sasref employees
at Jalmoudah district in Jubail Industrial City. At the same ceremony, Sasref signed an engineering consultancy contract with Al-Ajmi Engineering Consulting Office to assist Sasref in the engineering supervision of the project.
In a signing ceremony attended by executives from the three companies and the Sasref project management staff, Sasref's President Abdullah Al-Baiz, Abdulaziz Al-Khonaini, managing director, Al-Khonaini Co., and Mohammad Al-Ajmi, general manager Al-Ajmi Engineering Consulting, signed the contract on behalf of their respective companies.
After signing the contracts, Al-Baiz, said, "This project reflects Sasref's continued pursuit of excellence and is in line with our vision and target of becoming the preferred employer in the area. This project aims at providing the company employees with company-built housing units under the Home Ownership Program, which is one of the best in class benefits that Sasref provides to its employees. The housing units would be constructed in Jalmouda, one of the newly developing prime residential areas in Jubail Industrial City. The project, including development of the land and building of 217 housing units, is planned to be completed in mid-2014. The introduction of these 217 housing units would take the total housing units provided to Sasref employees so far to 947 housing units."
Mohammad Al-Ballow, project manager, said: "According to the contract's scope of work, Al-Khonaini company will implement the infrastructure development works of the site and construct 217 housing units. Al-Ajmi Consulting will assist Sasref in the engineering consultancy and supervision on the whole project to ensure implementation of the project as per the engineering specifications and standards approved by Jubail Royal Commission."
Sasref is a 50:50 joint venture company between Saudi Aramco and Shell Saudi Arabia Refining Ltd., with a production capacity of 305,000 barrels per day. It is an export refinery where Arabian Light Crude is upgraded into high quality refined products including kerosene, naphtha, benzene, ultra low sulfur diesel, fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). 90 percent of Sasref's products are exported outside the Kingdom.
