The United Arab Emirates will provide funds for the translation of a book titled "Basic Facts about the United Nations 2014", an annual publication issued by the International body in several languages to give a brief account of UN and its main activities.
Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect, with Director of the Outreach Division, Department of Public Information, United Nations (UNDPI), Maher Nasser.
Following the signing ceremony, Nusseibeh expressed her happiness that the U.A.E.. will provide funds for the publication of an Arabic copy of the book for all those who speak Arabic language worldwide, coinciding with the 69th regular session of the UN General Assembly in September. The move shows U.A.E..'s keenness to spread awareness and better understanding on the working of the UN in Arabic language.
According to her, the book will be highly beneficial for diplomats working for the UN or the public in general, indicating that the MoU is another step forward to bolster joint cooperation with UN.
On his part, Nasser extended thanks to the U.A.E.. for its generous assistance in the implementation of the project, which remained dormant since 1980.
