Turkey is strategically positioned on the world map bridging the continents of Europe and Asia. This has contributed to a long and diverse historical culture of Turkey, which is evident in all its facets across jewellery, home furnishings, food, and even entertainment! The Turkish Pavilion is located near the main stage cultural arena and is hosting two of the most highly appealing and entertaining shows on offer at Global Village – the Isdancebul traditional Turkish dance troupe and an amazing acrobatic performance.
The popular Isdancebul performance brings together the colourful traditional dance of Turkey and adds a modern feel for a riveting and entertaining show. The troupe has the entire crowd clapping their hands along with the remarkable dances, as well as the amazing show, which sees all the dancers bring out drums and play traditional beats.
The acrobatics performance that takes place on the Turkey pavilion culture stage is a breathtaking show that will have the crowd gasping in disbelief at the amazing feats that the performers are able to do – with shows of strength, agility, and balance; these performers will leave the crowd applauding for more.
One of the most popular attractions at the Turkish pavilion is the abundance of Turkish treats such as Turkish lokum or Turkish delight as it is commonly known by, which is sold in over 25 different flavours! These include rose and pistachio, orange blossom, coconut coated and even chocolate coated Turkish delights.
Visitors are in for a further culinary treat on their trip to the Turkish pavilion with original Turkish coffee and ice cream being sold. The coffee can be bought packaged to take home as well as brewed and ready for consumption while at the pavilion.
For those who understand the value of honey in its most natural and original form, Karakovan honey, which has been produced through traditional methods is available for sale at the Turkey Pavilion. It is produced through a nature-friendly process that does not interfere with the bees and honeycombs as a natural environment is created for its production. This honey is quite literally sold from the bees to your table!
Not to be missed also is an interesting video booth replete with a green background and a video camera set-up. This is popular with a lot of tourists who seat themselves at the center of this make-shift green studio while the videographer directs them to pretend as if they are on a flying carpet! After the shoot, the videographer puts together a final product of a music video that shows the tourist flying all over Turkey against a popular Turkish song! There are special arrangements and songs for children as well and the visitor takes back a piece of Turkey through this experience on a DVD with them.
The Turkish Pavilion is also one of the best places to buy beautiful shimmering lights and mosaic glass lamps. A must visit if one is renovating their home; it also offers classic Anatolian pieces of work to add to the décor of your home. And for those with a preference for the exotic, there are also specially crafted colourful dishes, pots and bowls to add to the serving table.
