Moroccan heritage shines in Badi Palace on the second day of the festival Marrakech – Yousry Mostafa On a warm summer evening in Marrekesh this week, festival-goes were treated to a soothing performance by Isawah Asala, a mystical Moroccan group famous for singing Moroccan 'Amdah', a form of music which praises of Islamic prophets and is often used in religious chants or while meditating.
Isawh Asala are originally from Meknes city, but they were in Marrakesh this week to take part in the 47th annual Folk Arts Festival in Marrakesh.  
The ceremony was attended by a large number of people and included performances by Hawara, a group from Taroudant city.  The group is made up of the main singer, Fatima Alshalah, who is famous for singing and energetically dancing among a group of men.
Popular bands Kadra, Ahayos and Ouled Sidi Hammad we Mosa, also participated in the ceremony, which celebrated the culture of Morocco and paid particular attention to spiritual and desert music.
The ceremony was characterised by every group wearing traditional outfits specific to their region, taking into account the smallest details and accessories , such as traditional slippers, which can differ form one region to another Festival director Abdul Samad Dinia, told Arabstoday that he exerted a great deal of effort to be able to arrange performances by the groups and how they were presented on stage, in order to refine the quality of the festival.
