Conference will bring together a number of Arab poets
Moroccan city Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is set to host the 10th Rabie al-Shear (Poetry Spring) festival during the period of April 8 – 10 under the title "Arabic Poetry in the Diaspora."
The festival, organised by Chantier Jeunesse Maroc (CJM) in association with the ministry of culture and the city's municipality, will honour Iraqi poet Adnan al-Sayegh, who currently resides in London.
Born in 1955 in Kufa, al-Sayegh began to write poetry at a young age. He is considered to be one of Iraq's leading contemporary poets. His poetry has been widely translated and has garnered awards across the globe.
The conference will bring together a number of Arab poets, with special emphasis on those who live abroad. They will discuss the phenomenon of separation from home and its impact on a person's life, culture, and personality.
Apart from poets and zajal artists, the conference will also host researchers who will discuss cultural, literary, and scientific topics.
Conference events will be held at various locations around Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, including the House of Culture, Diyar Timnay Hotel, and the late Hajj Mohammed Imami's home.
