First Malayalam translation version of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum's book
The first Malayalam translation of an acclaimed book by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be presented to Kerala's well-known author M. T. Vasudevan
Nair at a glittering function in Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday.
The book "Flashes of Thought: Challenges in the Race for Excellence”, authored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, has now been translated into Malayalam, mother tongue of a large number of Indian expatriates in the UAE.
The Arabic original of the book titled "Royatee” was published in May this year.
Friday's function is organised by the Malayalam newspaper "Gulf Madhyamam” which is published from several places in the Gulf. It is part of "Ente Swantham Malayalam,” a year-long programme organised by the newspaper to celebrate the granting of the status of ‘classical language' to Malayalam by the Indian government.
Malayalam is the language of the South Indian state of Kerala, spoken by over 30 million people, and has a heritage of at least 2,300 years.
The chief guest at Friday's function will be Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Culture and Art Authority, who will hand over the first copy of the Malayalam translation of Sheikh Mohammed's book to M T Vasudevan Nair, author of several Malayalam books and recipient of India's highest ‘Jnanapeetham' literary award, said Hamsa Abbas, Editor in Chief of "Gulf Madhyamam.”
The Malayalam edition of the book is titled "Ente Darshanam : Mikavinayulla Malsarathile Velluvilikal” (My Vision : Challenges in the Race for Excellence)”.
Sheikh Mohammed's book, which addresses the people of UAE and the outside world, is all about the development model followed by the UAE and the challenges in the race for excellence in various fields.
The Malayalam edition of Sheikh Mohammed's book will also be handed over to 14 Keralite celebrities including film actors Mohanlal and Mammotty, singers K J Yesudas and K S Chithra, all of whom will be honoured at the function.
