Twenty orphan children got their wishes fulfilled after Knowledge without Boarders’ (KwB) response to ‘Sidreh of Wishes’ initiative that was launchedby the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation.
‘Sidreh of Wishes’saw KwB distribute personal items designed to help the youngsters in their learning endeavours, as well as be of practical assistance in other areas of their lives. The gifts chosen by the children included a laptop, digital watch, camera, iPhone 6 and an iPad.
Commenting on the initiative,Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of KwB said: “The initiative falls under KWB’s remit to provide continuous support to humanitarian causes and out of its communal responsibility in fostering positive habits. Everyone capableshouldhelp these young people fulfil their hopes and ambitions so that they can grow as productive individuals equipped with the attributes that will help them benefit themselves and their homeland,”
“Our participation in the ‘Sidreh Of Wishes’ campaign underlines KwB’s attention to society-related issues and causes and its objectives of building a knowledge-based generationthat hasequal rights and responsibilities. We are passionate about education and assisting children of all backgrounds to realise their aspirations without feelings of inferiority or of being in need,” he added.
Al Kous concluded: “KwB’s response to‘Sidreh Of Wishes’ initiative is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the directives of His Wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affaires, which seek to provide less fortunate peoplewith all forms of support with the aim of integrating them in the community and contributingto fulfillingtheir aspirations and dreams.”
KwB was launched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and is supervised by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of its Organising Committee. The initiative aims to establish reading as a noble habit in every household in the UAE by encouraging the establishment of home libraries and filling these libraries with the best reading material across a variety of genres suitable for the whole family.
