Central Alexandria area of Kom el-Dekka
A Polish team and a number of foreign archaeological experts have started excavations for monuments in central Alexandria area of Kom el-Dekka.
The team - which works in tandem with the Ministry of Antiquities - will carry out a one-month excavations and archaeological survey in the area, Moustafa Roshdi - the acting head of Alexandria and Beheira archaeological areas - told MENA Tuesday.
On Monday, a French mission and a number of foreign archaeologists started excavations in Maria areas in western Alexandria.
The mission will continue excavations for almost a month in search of Greek and Roman monuments in Maria area, which is an important archaeological site, Roshdi said.
The mission works in collaboration with the Ministry of Antiquities, Moustafa Roushdi said.
Within the context of this robust archaeological activities in Alex, the Ministry of Antiquities said on Sunday that it is about to take over the old Alexandria governorate building which is expected to be hiding important archaeological discoveries.
The building is located in Romanian and Greek archaeological sites and excavations are expected to come up with important discoveries.
