The Hunger Exhibition opens at the Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre in October
A new exhibition at Dubai’s Gallery of Light promises to explore the “raw and primitive sensations that surround Halloween”.
Running between October 30 and November 1 2013, the Hunger Exhibition
will be more than an art show, inviting visitors to explore their deeper and darker sides with classic thriller and horror films, and even candle-lit yoga sessions.
“Created by local and regional artists, the artwork displayed as part of hunger reflects baser emotions - the kind of shifting psycho-sensations that exist beneath the skin and chime with questions of existence, mortality and being,” said a press release from Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre (DUCTAC), where the Gallery of Light is based.
Local artist Ram Nath, who is running the exhibition alongside in-house curator Simon Coates, added: “With this exhibition we aim to pose questions concerning existence, morality and being. The exhibition will investigate portrayals of fear and psychotic behaviour - whether encouraging viewers to explore their 'inner psycho' or exposing the normality of psychotic behaviour.”
The Hunger Exhibition will showcase work from artists Angie Abbas, Sara Al Haddad, IS, Jalal Luqman, Ram Nath, Sasan Saidi, Ghinwa Yassine and Sumayyah Al Suwaidi.
The opening night will be on Wednesday October 30, 1900-2200.
