A state of tension dominated the districts of Ein El Helwa Camp due to the failure to reach a cease-fire agreement between the conflicting parties which turned to use the different kinds of weapons. The residents launched appeals calling for dissolving the siege imposed on them. The clashes, which started on early Saturday, led to the killing of three persons and the injury of other 10.
According to Palestinian security source, the remnants of extremist groups of “Jund Al Sham” and “Fatah Al Sham” fueled the military situation in the camp during the recent hours, as Fatah’s elements decided to storm the strongholds of these militants to arrest their leaders, including Belal Badr. Leader of National Security forces Sobhy Abu Arab called the forces to prepare for a military operation to eliminate the extremist elements existed in the camp.
The forces’ leaders called the residents to take cautious measures and not to be existed in the open areas to protect themselves and to keep their safety. They also warned of the current state of insecurity dominating the camp.
On his hand, Hamas’ leader Ali Baraka expressed his movement’s support for the efforts exerted by the security forces to eliminate the extremist militants. He stressed their readiness to provide support for the Palestinian forces, saying that they will not allow the extremists to prevent them from performing their role to keep the security and stability.
In the same context, President of the Muslim Scholars Association Maher Hamood revealed that he contacted with Palestinian ambassador Ashraf Daboor and a number of Fatah’s official, praising the efforts exerted by the Palestinian movement to contain the situation in the camp of the Palestinian refugees.
He called, in a press statement, for taking serious steps to contain the current situation, stressing the need for avoiding the bloodshed among the civilians who strongly suffered from such clashes
