Yemen Parliament
The Chairperson of the Government of National Reconciliation, Mohamed Salem Basendwah, Monday, went on a tour of Gulf countries heading a ministerial delegation and technicians, including eight
ministers, in order to gather funds for the reconstruction of the country.
Basendwah is visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia first which is likely to support Yemen financially and stimulate other GCC countries to donate monies. Talks will focus on establishing establishing a fund to support the urgent rehabilitation of electricity and water services, health and education.
In a separate incident, the parliamentary session that followed Saleh's immunity status was marked by rising tensions amongst members of the institution who deplored the passing of the law which has been very divisive both at parliament level and amongst the people.
Many in parliament have demanded that the law sparing Saleh prosecution be repelled and that the outgoing president be allowed to face charges related to the deaths of protesters in the past year.
