President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received, on Tuesday, the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, in one-day official visit , at Cairo International Airport. Following his arrival, Al-Sisi accompanied Abdullah to the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace in Cairo’s Heliopolis suburb.
The Spokesman for Egypt's Presidency, Alaa Youssef, stated that a closed meeting for bilateral talks was held, followed by a meeting in the presence of the prime ministers of the two countries and the members of the two delegations. The President welcomed Egypt's great gest, expressing his happiness to meet the Jordanian monarch, appreciating the two countries' role to coordinate on various issues of common interest.
For his part, the King Abdullah II expressed his happiness over visiting Cairo, and praised the pivotal role of Egypt in the service of Arab issues and its efforts to enhance Arab solidarity.
The two presidents discussed various aspects of the outstanding strategic relationship between the two countries and ways to strength it. In this regard, the two leaders stressed the importance of the continuation of the joint higher committee chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries, in discussing ways to develop bilateral relations, and the need to follow up implementation of agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed in various fields during the last meeting of the committee which was held, in August 2016, in Cairo.
The President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed he is looking forward to participate in the summit, scheduled to be held in the end of this month in Jordan, stressing his confidence in the success of the Kingdom in hosting this important event.
He also pointed out that Egypt is ready to coordinate with Jordan to reach to reach solutions live up to the level of the challenges facing the Arab nation. The two leaders also stressed the importance of the Arab League, especially to unify the positions of Arab countries and to address the risks faced by this defining moment in the history of the nation.
The two sides also discussed future movements to break the gridlock within the Middle East peace process, especially with US President Donald Trump's administration taking power.
The two leaders stressed the importance of concerting's efforts of the international community to face terrorism and extremist thinking, as part of an integrated strategy is not limited to security and military aspects, but also includes cultural, economic and intellectual aspects.
