Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh
Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh showed his willingness, Wednesday, to sign the Gulf initiative by himself, if he gets European, American, and Gulf guarantees.
Saleh said his opponents refuse
to talk about the chronic operational mechanism of the initiative, stressing on the need to provide these guarantees from the three parties.
In an extraordinary meeting for the standing committee of the General
Public Congress Party (the ruling party), Saleh stressed that "Yemeni problems will not be solved from abroad, and it is hard for foreign parties to acknowledge the facts and rituals of Yemeni people as we know it, while the others got their knowledge from polls, reports, ideas, comments, and decision would not serve the interests of the country, and may lead to further crisis, discrimination, and political rivalry between all the sons of homeland."
Yemeni president renewed his call for dialogue and amity to end the crisis, and to enter into a partnership with all political forces, in the framework of the Constitution of Yemen, suggesting that his opponents did not respond to this call, and did not want to talk or understand, and at the same time they move politically and convey false information.
In an effort to stir up his supporters, Saleh said that his opponents want to ascend to power to "revenge of all the competencies, and honest and faithful people in this country, who are here because they are the cream of
society in the institutions of the state, and they are all proven competencies for a long time." , he added that his opponents say in their statements that they will terminate this regime from its roots, and after the target was the president and his relatives and children, they revealed their intentions to uproot this regime.
He said that the claims for him as a president to leave means the
departure of 4 million Yemeni vote for him in the last presidential election, and if these millions decide he should leave, he would, because that means the withdrawal of confidence from him.
Saleh asks where he would go? Then he answered: "this is my country I grew, became a soldier then an officer then a president here, and I know what this country want."
Saleh noted that many are educated better than him but never got anything from that education, he acknowledged his poor education saying : "my education was poor but I educate myself and grew up to learn, and understand, and go along, I heard from all the national political leaderships about economy, law, culture, and on every level, I brought up in 33 years."
The Yemeni leader pointed out that he does not mind "what called sit-ins by the so-called young people to stay", he continued " we support the gathering of the youth and we understand their demands and we stand by them."
Saled addressed the rebels saying: "they stole your revolution..the thieves stole it, I speak with confidence they stole your revolution. Stole your gathering, your ambitions, your demands, and now they drive you to the streets as human shields, and they are in your back armed to the teeth in order to get injuries and prepare the media to say "check out world, look this is a dictatorship, an oppressive country crushed its people."
Saleh pointed out that his opponents were unable to overthrow the regime, despite of saying they have a presence in Yemen, and confirmed that he has strong evidences with the voice of his opponents and with documentation, that there is a full coordination with Al-Qaeda in what happened in Abyan, and a number of heads of diplomatic missions know
this, suggesting that they are willing to destroy the country, but they do not have the military power he got.
The meeting emphasized the support of the president's decision in favor of mandating his deputy the constitutional powers needed to conduct a dialogue with the signatories of the initiative made by the Cooperation Council for the Arad Gulf States, and the agreement on a dated mechanism to implement it, and to sign the initiative after that on his behalf.
The attendants authorized Saleh to take appropriate actions to resolve the current Yemeni crisis, and form a new government with few days lasts until the conclusion of a political deal with the opposition to end the ongoing political crisis for nine months.
