A prosecutor died while pleading in the Court
Rabat – Rachid Bougha
A prosecutor died while pleading in the Court of Appeal in Casablanca on Wednesday at the age of 61 due to a heart attack, while another source said he died on his way to hospital.
On other issues, a solution
to the problem between judges and lawyers in Morocco began to loom on the horizon. Minister of justice and freedoms Mustafa Ramid went to the city of Taounate in central Morocco to contain the tension and find a consensus solution.
Informed sources in Taounate said that the reason behind the problem was that “a judge in the Court of first instance in Taounate accused a lawyer of verbal abuse against him." Lawyers held a protest on Tuesday before the Court in solidarity with their colleague.
As a first step, following negotiations held by Ramid with judges and lawyers, it was decided to form a committee of officials from different sides in order to heal the rift and reconcile between the components of the judicial team.
According to a communication sent to the Ministry of justice and freedoms, “the decision to form the committee was taken yesterday, Wednesday, during a meeting”. However, Al Khamis newspaper reported that the minister opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecution and that the public prosecution will listen to all parties before applying the law on the violator.
