Fateh and Hamas seem to be on the verge of reconciliation

Hamas’s political office has confirmed hopes that the anticipated meeting between Hamas and the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbass, will be successful, which will help in implementing
the reconciliation process.
The Palestinian Popular Front (PPF) has confirmed that there is an Egyptian plan to put pressure on Hamas and Fateh’s movements to reconcile.
The leader of Hamas’s political office, Khalid Meshaal, confirmed that his movement is “really keen to have a successful meeting with the Palestinian president, in order to implement reconciliation.”
Meshaal said in an interview with ‘Saheefa’ website on Monday: “ I don’t prefer talking to the media about my meeting with President Abbas, but the time for this meeting will be specified in the coming few days.”
Meshaal said that the anticipated meeting will discuss the internal relations in all fields, especially in the political sphere. “The current situation and all the facts on the grounds now are pushing towards the reconciliation, which supports national unity,” he explained.
Kayed Al-Ghool, a PPF leader revealed Egypt’s intention to invite both factions to Cairo after Eid El-Adha, stressing that there is a strong Egyptian plan to put pressure on both parties to reconcile.
Al-Ghool called on the Palestinian factions to unite in order to be able to draw and a united national political map, especially considering recent developments.
Political office member of the Palestinian Democratic Front, Saleh Zaidan, said that Egypt will hold meetings with the Palestinian factions after Eid to discuss the reconciliation agreement which was signed on May 4, 2011 in Cairo.
Zaidan said: “According to what we have been informed of by The Egyptian side, the meeting will start first with officials from Hamas and Fateh , and then separate meetings will bring together the different factions who signed the reconciliation agreement, and the Egyptian leadership.”
Meanwhile, Islam Jihad movement leader Khader Habeeb, has announced that a senior delegation from the party will also go to Cairo after Eid, to discuss issues related to the Palestinian reconciliation. “The party leaders will meet some Egyptian officials to discuss techniques to finalise the Palestinian reconciliation, in addition to a discussion regarding Israeli escalation in Gaza, where 12 people were killed, including nine from Al-Quda Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad movement,” he said, while also praising Egypt’s initiative.
A member of the Islam Jihad movement, Sheikh Nafez Azzam said that his party hopes to execute the reconciliation as soon as possible.
He said: “Implementing the reconciliation process is considered as an approach to reunite the Palestinians, and decrease their suffering in the conflict.”
