Violence against children witnessed notable increase in Jordan since the beginning of the year, as two children have been slaughtered, while the third has been injured by her father. The notable increase in such crimes pushed Jordan’s Women Solidarity Institute to call for active ways to prevent the crimes related to the violence against children.
The Jordanian institute said that the violence against children leaves serious health consequences on the children on both physical and psychological level. It added that many children turned to commit suicide because of the increasing violence committed against them.
The organization prepared a study, entitled “Seven Strategies to Contain Violence against Children”, stressing the need for cooperation between the government, social society, private sector and local communities to provide frameworks to put limits to the serious phenomenon.
The strategies included a number of fields, including the education, economy, health care, and the strict measures against the violators, calling for holding a meeting between the governmental and non-governmental institutions to discuss the ways aiming to protect the rights of children.
